The 2005 Fall Colloquium
Each fall we bring together a group of LBW teachers to discuss a topic of interest. This year, the topic was "What To Do About Grammar?"

2004-2005 LBW Fellowship Seminar on Language & Literacy
These fellowships will provide talented, experienced and committed high school teachers and CUNY faculty a chance to explore in depth a research problem or question they define -- something that emerges form their teaching -- and will afford them an opportunity to work on a study leading to publication. This year-long seminar will meet on 10 Saturdays from October 2004 to May 2005. Applications will be available August 2004.

The 2004 Fall Colloquium
Each fall we bring together a group of LBW teachers to discuss a topic of interest. This year we are also inviting teachers who may be interested in applying to the Spring Seminar Series to attend the Fall Colloquium as a demonstration workshop. Applications will be available in September 2004.

2005 Spring Seminar Series
Four groups of 15 participants each (high school and college teachers) will meet on six Saturdays from early February to mid May in seminars co-facilitated by one high school and one college leader. Each group will be at a different location in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens. Participants will provide student writing and classroom projects for discussion, visit each other's classrooms, explore multiple ways to generate and respond to texts, and compose a written project related to the issues they explore. Participants receive a stipend after completing the series. Applications will be available in Fall 2004.

2005 LBW Inquiry Groups
After participating in the Spring Seminar Series, teachers are eligible for a variety of continuing collaborative projects in subsequent years. These activities have included seminars on assessment, teacher research, and designing/assessing writing assignments and responding to student writing. Participants receive a stipend. Annoucement of the topic and an application will be available in Fall 2004.
